Lore
Palmantle opened its wings to shelter others and grew six of them. The halo came after. It can never fold all six away again; something always needs sheltering.
The Mantle Owl
Beasts with an owl's face, a lion's tail and wings worn like cloaks, who walk on four legs. They came down from the high dark and hunt in silence under the stars that made them. A Mantle Owl's wings show what it chose to hold on to.
